Default Optimizing and Text Content Concern

My question is I have a couple of website that are completed designed and concept wise. Meaning I am now looking to hire an individual or company from India to create and handle the text content and then optimize SEO the website.

My question is I had a lot of problems dealing with designers alone trying to steal coding from the design itself and now that I'm in the text content and SEO stages. the writers and SEO, are asking me that I need to provide them FTP access in order for them to be able to themselves upload the text content and optimize and SEO the site.

I am weary in giving such or anyone FTP access, I told them, that they can fwd me the content writing and other coding and that our web masters would be able to upload it.

They and most of them are saying that's not an option and that they would personally need the FTP access to insert the text and add alt tags to the images, etc.

Is it true that would be the only option in order for them to handle my text content and SEO or is there a format process of where I can somehow give them FTP access to a certain aspect of JUST what they need in order to accomplish such work duties, but NOT risk the fact of them trying to get my database and mess with the coding and steal it, etc?

Anyone that would be able to provide me some feedback or answers I would really appreciated.
